This month the Berlin Beats team brings us yet more of the quality underground house and techno we Bangkok music-lovers crave. November’s edition features Borrowed Identity – the 23 year-old Berlin-born, Romanian DJ/producer whose musical talent and depth belies his years.

Recognised as an artist unlimited by the boundaries of genre, Borrowed Identity’s love affair with all types of music springs from his early years as a hip-hop producer. Through finding samples for his productions, he gained exposure to everything from Krautrock and early experimental electronic music, to disco, funk and soul – to rock, reggae, African and South American music, and classical music.

His dexterity in traversing limits is also present in his performance:

‘When I’m DJing I want my sound to be ever adaptable…like the skin of a chameleon, which changes colour and intensity as and when it needs to best blend in with its setting.’ – Resident Advisor

He made his debut under the current alias on label Foul and Sunk in 2012, and has since released on DVS1’s respected label Mistress Recordings (see our previous article on Mistress Recordings here) and Berghain’s Ostgut Ton .  His tracks have  also been supported by likes of global tastemakers – including Mike Huckaby, Move D, Laurent Garnier, Ryan Elliott, Jimpster, Delano Smith and many more.

We’re really looking forward to seeing Borrowed Identity blend right into our little Bangkok scene this Saturday at Glow. With support from Berlin Beats residents Jaydubb, *harrington and DJ Mowgli, this will be a night of quality music you cannot miss.

In the meantime, though – seamlessly travel through his disco, house and techno selections with this excellent mix by the man himself for Ibiza Voice:

Enjoy, and see you Saturday!
